            THE ROYAL ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF CANADA

                 COMET AND NOVA SECTION

May 5, 1962.

PROGRESS REPORT to the General Assembly of the Royal Astronomical
Society of Canada, held in Edmonton, Alberta on May 18-19, 1962.

        To date, I have sent out two bulletins and three announcements
to all Centres of the Society.  To date, I have received replies from
twelve of the sixteen Centres. My contacts are:

       Over half of these Centres show a definite interest in taking
part in this programme, and I have received "search" reports from
Montreal and Hamilton, and other observations from Halifax, Niagara
Falls, and Winnipeg.  I expect more reports from other Centres within
the next month.

       Comet Seki-Lines (1962c) was well observed, although several
Centres indicated Weather conditions were not too favourable.  Observations
will be included on the display.
