Discovered by C. S. Shoemaker and D. H. Levy at Palomar.
Named in honour of Défi Corporatif Canderel, a fundraising event for cancer research programs at universities in Montréal. Founded by Jonathan Wener, the event has been directed by Gerald Levy since its inception in 1990. It features a costumed run through the streets of Montréal and has raised more than three million dollars.
